Chateauneuf du Pape, Cuvee Laurence
International Wine Cellar:
"97 out of 100...The 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Laurence is terrific, and is certainly the finest release since the ’98 and ’01. The same blend as the classic cuvee (85% Grenache, 10% Syrah and the rest Mourvèdre and other varieties), it spent a full 48 months in old foudre prior to bottling. Gorgeously complex, with soaring garrigue, saddle leather, beef blood, iron and distinct minerality, this beauty is full-bodied, rich and layered on the palate, with a massive amount of fruit and tannin. Intense, Provencal, layered and decadent, enjoy this beauty over the coming 10-15 years." - Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate (2015)
"96 out of 100...This old-school version shows the dense, grippy profile of the vintage, with a great tannic backbone running through the mulled black currant, maduro tobacco, brick and roasted chestnut flavors, all enveloped by lush spice, bacon and espresso notes. All muscle now, but has the seamless balance to cellar for its full potential. Best from 2014 through 2030." - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator
"(95-97) out of 100...The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Laurence appears to be the finest example of this wine since the 1998. Wonderfully rich, concentrated notes of roasted Provencal herbs, jammy black cherries, new saddle leather, and loamy soil are present in this stunningly rich, full-bodied wine. With excellent concentration, moderate tannin, and fabulous length as well as intensity, it should be released in 2009-2010, and will keep for 20-25 years." - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
