The Chicago Wine Company (TCWC) was founded in May, 1974. TCWC conducted its first fine wine auction in April, 1977, making TCWC only the second company (after Heublein) to conduct wine auctions in the U.S.
TCWC is the only wine auction company in the United States that has no (15% or more) buyer's premium and conducts approximately 20 Auctions per year.
TCWC also regularly buys a significant amount of fine wine for its own account and offers these wines on an outright purchase basis. Because TCWC has been buying wine in Europe for more than 30 years, it has developed a wide network of suppliers which enables it to buy wines that most other wine companies simply cannot get. This enables TCWC to offer one of the very finest and most comprehensive selections of both young and well-cellared mature wines in the U.S. TCWC brings all wine from Europe over on full, insured, temperature controlled containers in the late Spring or Fall. Long term storage is available and is used by thousands of collectors. All bottles stored at TCWC enjoy year-round temperature control and very high security.
TCWC is also the host of exciting dinners each year, such as the annual Fete du Bordeaux, celebrating the arrival of the latest vintage from Bordeaux.
