"95 out of 100...Plush, with a modern touch of mocha and incense leading the way for thickly layered plum sauce, tobacco, fig paste and licorice notes. The long, mouthfilling finish pumps out fruit and mineral notes thanks to riveting acidity. Best from 2009 through 2023." - WA
"(92-95) out of 100...With the brilliant oenologist who worked for Michel Chapoutier for many years, Alberic Mazoyers, now firmly installed at Domaine Alain Voge, these wines are taking off in a spectacular manner (not that they weren’t very impressive in previous vintages). An absolutely monumental Cornas, and one of the finest wines I have tasted from this provincial/rustic appellation is the opaque purple-colored 2005 Cornas Cuvee Vieilles Fontaines. Full-bodied with extraordinary concentration, notes of scorched earth, roasted meats, sweet cassis, blackberry, truffle as well as charcoal, the wine is intense, with majestic depth and texture and a long, rich, full, powerful finish. This is truly stunning stuff that should prove to be a monumental effort in this vintage. It should age effortlessly for 15+ years." - WA
