| "93 out of 100...Over the years, I have expressed my fondness for Alsatian Muscat. In 1995, ZH produced two Vendange Tardive Muscats, both riveting examples of this underrated varietal. The 1995 Muscat Herrenweg Turckheim V.T. offers abundant tropical fruit cocktail aromas, off dry, gorgeously floral, honeyed-like flavors, medium to full body, wonderful freshness and vibrancy, and a long, lusty finish. This wine must carry a minimum of 14% alcohol in its medium to full-bodied personality. Because Muscat is more delicate and fragile than Riesling, Tokay-Pinot Gris, or Gewurztraminer, it must be drunk during its first several years of life. The Zind-Humbrecht 1995s possess approximately 10% higher acidity than the crisp, high acid 1994s, largely because September was a very cool month. There was no need to chaptalize any of the ZH wines, and extremely long fermentations resulted in high alcohol." - R.M.P., Jr.
